Steam Tram Museum

The museum steam train Hoorn-Medemblik tells the history of the small steam train in the Netherlands. The journey is perfectly complemented by the authentic train stations that have been preserved.

History of the Steam tram museum

The first museum trips were carried out on 23 May 1968, for which certain locomotives were used. This journey to the 40-year-old museum in May 2008 was repeated with the same material composition. In the following years the museum developed into its present form. The steam tram is based on the year 1926.

About the steam tram museum

After the small steam trains were abolished in the Netherlands, the wagons and locomotives were demolished or processed into flats, barns or pigeon lofts. In the steam train museum you will find small steam train equipment, a large historical luggage collection and authentic signals and signalling equipment. In the small steam railway documentation centre, which you can visit by appointment, you can view documentation material about the small steam railway lines.
