Welcome on board the tjalk barge ‘Nieuwe Zorg’. Together with the crew you will make a fine sailing trip on the Dutch waters. Would you like to explore the IJsselmeer and its many lively harbour towns or do you prefer to visit the Wadden area, a Unesco World Heritage? The Nieuwe Zorg is a flat bottom ship, so she can sail outside the navigation channels, allowing you to explore the shallow waters of the Waddenzee. Whatever the nature of your sailing trip, you are guaranteed to enjoy it!

Action on deck!
With 240 m2 of sail, there is always something to do on the deck of the Nieuwe Zorg! To experience some real sailing, you can assist in hoisting the sails and in tacking. You have no experience? No problem. The crew will be glad to teach you the ins and outs of sailing this ship. Even if you prefer to take it a bit easier, you will still enjoy the sailing trip on board this tjalk. In the cockpit or elsewhere on deck you are bound to find a good place to enjoy the weather and the water.

Sociable evenings on board.
After an active day you can sit together in the cosy day room of the tjalk Nieuwe Zorg for a good meal or a sociable, long evening. The fully furnished galley allows you to prepare your favourite dishes.
Staying the night on board the Nieuwe Zorg.
At the end of the day you can stay on board the tjalk Nieuwe Zorg for the night. Find yourself a nice bed in one of the comfortable and brightly furnished cabins. Here you will find complete relaxation after a day in the open air.

History.
The tjalk Nieuwe Zorg was built in 1896, originally to serve in the cargo shipping industry. As a freighter she transported various types of goods, such as peat, bricks and wood. Around 1950 the ship was converted into a houseboat. In the 1970s the Nieuwe Zorg was refurbished again, with a longer mast and more sails, which made the ship even more fun to sail. After the refurbishment this tjalk started her third life as a sailing passenger ship, which allows her guests to experience sailing as it was in the old days, in combination with contemporary comforts.
