The history of the Aquamarijn

The Aquamarijn has been sailing since 1900. Originally designed as a freighter, the ship changed owners and functions over the years. The Aquamarijn, then called the Zuiderzon, was converted into a passenger ship and has sailed Dutch waters with up to 32 day and 26 night guests since 1995.

Over the years, the ship was increasingly converted and optimised for her guests. Under a new name, the ship lost her typical yellow colour and sailed on the IJsselmeer as the Amalia until 2022. 

Since 2022, the ship has new owners and a new name: the Aquamarijn. Thanks to an extensive renovation with a focus on energy optimisation, the Aquamarijn is now equipped for a climate-friendly future.
