Sail on board the Medusa, previously named Vrouwe Aaltje, and experience an unforgettable sailing adventure. The crew will take you along the IJsselmeer, de Waddenzee and the wonderful inland waterways in Friesland and Overijssel. Come aboard and enjoy an authentic and relaxing sailing experience. The added bonus is that the Medusa is part of the Paradigm Project, which means that for every ton of CO₂ the ship emits, the Medusa donates money for the production of a sustainable wood stove for a family in Kenya.

Be active or rest on deck

Have a beautiful sailing trip and enjoy the weather, the water and being together on board the Medusa. On board you can help with setting course, hoisting the sails and tacking. The skipper will let you in on the finer tricks of the trade. Or perhaps you prefer to get yourself a comfortable place on deck, lay back and let the beautiful world around you go by. It is up to you what you want to do on board this comfortable sailing ship.

Enjoyable evenings and relaxing on board the Medusa

Below deck there is plenty to enjoy during your stay on board the Medusa. You will be pleasantly surprised by the warm and colourful entertainment room and cosy and comfortable kitchen. At the spacious tables you can get together for a splendid meal or an enjoyable evening. There is a special feature for you on the Medusa: one of the cabins can be changed into a sauna in an instant. Talk about relaxing!

Overnight on board the Medusa

Your experience will be extra special if you and your group stay overnight on board the Medusa. After a day of fresh air on the water you will sleep in a comfortable bed in one of the cabins, waking up the next day full of energy. All cabins have running water and heating.

History

The Medusa used to be called Vrouwe Aaltje when it would take guests sailing on the Dutch inland waterways.

Sailing on the Medusa = a wood stove in Kenya!

The Medusa is part of the Paradigm Project, a project in Kenya that is involved in developing special wood stoves. This stove uses a lot less wood and has lower CO₂ emissions than an open wood fire. For each ton of CO₂ the ship emits, the Medusa donates an amount to Kenya to make one of these wood stoves.
