How to play beach volleyball

To play a game you need two teams with two or three players. The game is played in the sand and the two teams are separated by a net. The goal of the game is to play the ball against the ground on the other side of the net. When a team has gained 21 points, it has won.

• The field is 8 by 16 meters
• A team may hit the ball maximal three times
• The ball is brought into play by a 'serve' of the opponent
• The winner must serve, but after 7 points it will be changed

Beach volleyball versus volleyball

The biggest difference between beach volleyball and volleyball is that the beach volleyball team has fewer players. Furthermore, the players at beach volleyball have no fixed positions, the ball is a lot heavier and there is no center line in the field.

Beach volleyball became an official Olympic sport in 1996? And the very first beach volleyball matches were played on Hawaii's beaches? However, the first tournaments started in 1924.
