The smoking house, where fish (eels) have been smoked for more than 150 years, is located in the Paviljoen. Jan Smit and his son Evert still work there every day, and the entire family helps in the high season! There are guided tours and you are also more than welcome to enjoy a lunch or dinner in the attractive restaurant.

Eel smokehouse Smit Bokkum
You will find the Smit Bokkum smokehouse in the heart of Volendam, where more than 150 years of different types of fish have been smoked. Six generations of sons have worked here and passed on the family recipe. The 5th and 6th generations still work there every day and in the high season the whole family works together on cutting, skinning and filleting.

The smokehouse offers guided tours in which you see the process of (eel) smoking. Ideal to combine with a lunch or dinner in the restaurant to try freshly made fish. Or buy one of the tasty delicacies such as salmon, mackerel and salmon in the deli.
