Masterly experience of steam architecture and water

The Wouda Pumping Station at Lemmer in the province of Friesland opened in 1920. It is the largest steam-pumping station ever built and is still in operation. It represents the high point of the contribution made by Dutch engineers and architects in protecting their people and land against the natural forces of water.

Next to the pumping station is a visitors centre containing interesting information and educational values. Part of the exposition / experience is a 3- dimensional 15 minutes movie ( English subtitled). Very interesting is the virtual tour in 5 languages (NL, Engl, Fr, Sp, Ger).
