IJsseldelta/Kop van Overijssel

Sailing in the Kop van Overijssel

The Kop van Overijssel is a region in the north-west of the province of Overijssel. It is a magnificent sailing area featuring plenty of nature reserves, such as the IJsseloog island in the Ketelmeer, the ‘bird island’ in the Zwarte Meer or the marshy Weerribben National Park. All unique places to sail.

Discover a different city every day

The Kop van Overijssel has something great for everyone to experience. Cycling, walking, a visit to a museum, eating out in a good restaurant or, if you prefer, going for a swim in a beautiful nature reserve. There’s fun to be had by everyone here. The most well-known towns in the Kop van Overijssel are Kampen, Genemuiden, Steenwijk, Zwartsluis, Hasselt, Vollenhove and the old port town of Blokzijl. But you could also take a trip to Giethoorn, which is often called the ‘Venice of the North’.

Putting down anchor in a nature reserve

En route, in addition to unique cities you’ll come across some beautiful nature reserves where you can put down anchor and enjoy a delightful swim, canoe trip or walk along the side. But you could also stay put for a night and experience the Kop van Overijssel at its best: surrounded by nature.
