Ketelhaven

Ketelhaven is a pioneer settlement from the time of the draining of the Zuiderzee. Ketelhaven is located between the beautiful historic city of Kampen and the modern town of Dronten. It is an area rich in water, where the Veluwemeer, the Vossemeer and the river IJssel flow into the IJsselmeer.

Inflatable weir

Between the Ketelmeer and the Zwarte Meer - 7 km from Kampen on the N50 in the direction of Emmeloord - there is a hose weir. The tubular weir at Rampol is in its kind the largest weir in the world and was put into operation in 2002. It is anticipated that the weir will be closed once a year. In this case, 3.500,000 liters of air and 3,500,000 liters of water are pumped into this 'giant balloon' within an hour. The weir rises and separates the Zwarte Meer from the Ketelmeer. The rest of the year is a empty hose on the bottom, so that the shipping has free passage. It has chosen this special solution, because otherwise dikes would have been increased over a length of about 115 kilometers. This weir was a much cheaper solution.

Villa Park

In the green Villapark Ketelhaven are 217 almost all different bungalows. In the park there is a heated outdoor pool, two clay tennis courts and a tennis court with Mateco surface. A tournament takes place several times a year on the Jeu de Boules course.
